Contains the following types of materials: photographs, pencil sketch portraits. Covers the following war: World War II (WWII). Contains photographs of the following military unit: 3rd Infantry Division. General description of the collection: The Lucian K. Truscott, Jr., collection is composed of one huge oversize album and two smaller albums and a few loose photos. The huge album deals with the operations of the 3rd Infantry Division between October 1942 and April 1944; over 1300 small photos in this album. and they are almost entirely Signal Corps photos covering activities from North Africa to Anzio and beyond in Italy. Another album contains photos of the 3rd Infantry Division beachhead monuments of WWII and dates to 1946. The last album is the "Photographic record of the 1st US Ranger Battalion in training at S.S. Commando Depot, Achnacarray, Scotland". The few lose photos add little to the collection. There are eight original pencil sketch portraits of the 3rd Infantry Division, Headquarters personnel and one original of Bill Mauldin cartoon.

General Lucian King Truscott Jr. (January 9, 1895 – September 12, 1965) was a highly decorated senior United States Army officer, who saw distinguished active service during World War II. Between 1943–45, he successively commanded the 3rd Infantry Division, VI Corps, Fifteenth Army and Fifth Army. He was, along with Alexander Patch, among the few U.S. Army officers to command a division, a corps, and a field army on active service during the war.
